About J-Beauty Edit

J-Beauty Edit is an independently run publication based in Japan. We help English-speaking readers understand Japanese skincare, makeup, sunscreen, and hair care before they buy.

Why Japan-based research matters

Important product details do not always make it onto overseas listings. Japanese brand pages may use different names, show a newer formula, or include instructions and warnings that are missing from an international retailer page. We read Japanese-language sources directly and explain those differences in clear English.

When practical, we also check current packaging, local prices, and Japan-market availability. If we have not visited a store or used a product ourselves, we say so rather than imply firsthand experience.

What you will find here

  • Product reviews built around a clear buying question
  • Side-by-side comparisons that explain who each option suits
  • Guides to Japanese labels, formulas, routines, and shopping
  • Notes on version, packaging, or market differences that overseas shoppers can easily miss

Our aim is simple: help you decide what is worth a closer look, what may not suit you, and what still needs to be confirmed before you buy.

How the site is funded

Some pages contain affiliate links. J-Beauty Edit may earn a commission if you buy through one of those links, at no extra cost to you. Compensation does not determine our conclusions. You can read the full details in our Affiliate Disclosure.

Research, corrections, and contact
